What is Slack Taxi?

From the name alone you'd guess it to be some lazy good-for-nothin' cabbie permanantly parked on the lonliest cab-rank in slowest part Nowhereville.

Or from the photos it could be the invasion of a bunch of steroid-fed escapees from a giant's technicolour circus.

Pick the latter and you're getting close. Slack Taxi is, in essence, exciting, interactive physical theatre that can be booked to perform at your function or event.

A visually stunning Australian physical theatre troupe.
Slack Taxi was founded by Artistic Director/Manager, Jen Martin , (click for full history) in early 1994. From producing original shows at high profile Australian events, Slack Taxi has developed into a national and international touring troupe by 2000, taking spectacular wandering characters all over the world. Roving performances have become the most popluar of Slack Taxi performances, with characters evolving from stiltwalkers in bodypaint and exciting costumes in the mid 1990's. By the late 90's 4 metre tall Giant Puppets and innovative designs for stilts including Fat Ballerinas, Funky Clowns and Origami Creatures were created and launched to international audiences. The early 2000's saw the dynamic acrobatic stunt characters - The Bouncers created.
